Job Description: 

PURPOSE:

Manage and oversee Grimmway’s corporate insurance program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have a four-year college degree. Associate degree will be accepted when combined with related work experience. 
  • Paralegal degree, training, or certificate a plus. 
  • Minimum of five years of commercial claim and/or underwriting experience. 
  • Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter designation or Certified Risk Manager designation preferred. 
  • Must have computer knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Internet. 
  • Must have strong general office skills and good organizational skills. 
  • Must possess good communication abilities including strong writing skills in English. 
  • Must be able to travel locally about 25% of the time and out of state occasionally. 
  • Remote work not available for this position. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record. 
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen and background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Manage and determine courses for all lines of insurance (excluding work comp) on claims and litigation, working with internal and external counsel and stakeholders. 
  • Communicate with vendors, insurance companies, insurance brokers, defense counsel, licensing and permitting agencies and others pertaining to insurance, claims and disputes. Responsible for liability, property, excess and automobile insurances and working with insurance companies, tracking insurance certificates, issuing insurance certificates, and working with other vendors. 
  • Develop strategies to decrease the company’s Total Cost of Risk (TCOR). Including but not limited to options for mitigating, avoiding, or transfer of risk. 
  • Manage Grimmway’s corporate insurance program, and act as a consultant to the Executive Team and Board on all matters related to insurance. 
  • Determine insurance requirements for vendors and review any requests to alter requirements and approve or deny as necessary. 
  • Work with counsel to review and update as needed, Grimmway contract language and contract language from vendors to ensure the maximum risk transfer. 
  • Represent Grimmway in mediation. 
  • Manage vendor COI’s.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. 
  • Ability to occasionally move about inside the office. 
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment.

STARTING WAGE: $75,000 - $130,000 / YEAR
