The Grow Network is the online home of a global network of people who are grow their own food, make medicine, and build community resilience.  We are stopping the destructiton of the Earth via "Home Grown Food On Every Table".  We offer information via our online blog, information products (physical and digital), forums, newsletter, and a learning membership area.

Our company culture is of a team of rugged adventurers out to make a difference in the world. We are a distributed company with most of us based in Texas.  Those with a life-attitude of being on an expedition in the back-country will like working in this environment. This is a full-time work from home position where you determine your own hours and have your own equipment.

Our founder is working with a top name literary agency and in the process of writing a book.  Your job will be to generate and manage publicity to sell 50,000 books.  You'll be pitching the media (especially radio producers and pod casters), writing press releases, managing media and other key relationships, scheduling events, speaking engagements, interviews and public appearances.

About the role

Work closely with our founder generating publicity for the book and The Grow Network.  You'll be performing a variety of duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

    Pitch the media for publicity opportunities (tv, radio, bloggers, podcasters, magazines, newspapers)
    Develop materials for press kits, brochures, flyers, and other media
    Effectively and accurately manage calendars including scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments and travel arrangements
    Manage correspondence including reading, printing, prioritizing, copying, annotating, distributing and developing appropriate responses with minimal supervision in an extremely efficient manner
    Updating and maintaining the records in HighRise contact management database (you are a relationship manager fanatic)
    Seek out amazing presenters for the Grow Network's annual Summits
    Strategically filter information and quickly assess (often changing) priorities
    Effectively and professionally represent The Grow Network to internal and external channels through appropriate and timely responses
    Handle some personal items for the founder, including bill pay, travel details,  coordinating household service team, etc.

Minimum requirements

    A passion for homegrown food and good health (you have a garden, and/or chickens, or you are growing some of your own food in some way).
    5 years of experience in a publicity / public relations role in a highly pressurized and results-driven environment
    Ability to effectively work with high level executives and a variety of personalities
    Exceptional writing, editing, organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
    You are a file-naming fanatic.
    You 'get it' about keeping the CRM database updated and are relentless with relationship tracking.
    Knowledge of and experience with Office365, Outlook coordinated company email and calendaring, HighRise, BaseCamp, WordPress, Quickbooks, PayPal, and other web technology.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $48,000 annually as a W2 employee.  When the company's performance merits it, we pay bonuses.  Note that we do not have health insurance benefits as this is not a part of our value system.
