Position Summary: 

As the maker of America’s #1 organic pet food, Castor & Pollux is looking for a bright, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Key Account Manager to join our team. The position reports directly to the VP of Natural Grocery, serving in a territory management position, which includes providing leadership and initiatives to drive retention, growth and profitability of their assigned retail partners and key accounts. This position serves two key functions; one as primary contact and liaison for existing broker network, educating, training and driving store-level advocacy to execute the company sales plan. Second, to act as an Account Manager on key headquarter accounts. The ideal candidate would have vast experience and working knowledge of the natural products industry. This position will require a working knowledge of trade planning, sales forecasting, category review presentations and ability to multitask, work individually and with a fast paced sales team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meet assigned targets for sales volume and strategic objectives in the natural grocery channel   
  • Operate as lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to the districts assigned within the territory
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions in field according to customer needs and objectives
  • Communicate clearly the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives at store level, customer level and internally with Castor & Pollux team.
  • Work with brokers and retail partners daily to drive business to plan levels.
  • Use internal Castor & Pollux reporting system to record and document store and regional planning and execution.
  • Work with key retail partners in the field to train and execute initiatives within the designated territory.
  • Perform business reviews with key retail customers within focus market area
  • Train brokers and retail partners on Castor & Pollux products to create advocacy and increase sales.
  • Maintain monthly calendar and expense budgets.
  • Provide the Vice President with monthly market updates in regards to Castor & Pollux status in focus markets as well as competitive data.
  • Create and conduct retail and broker sales presentations utilizing syndicated data that result in increased SKU penetration and growth


Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

·      Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years sales experience OR High School Degree (or equivalent G.E.D.) with 5+ years sales experience

·      Natural Channel or Consumer Packaged Goods category experience preferred

·      Outside sales experience required

·      Ability to travel up to 75% of the time (including overnight travel and evening events)



·      Results oriented work ethic

·      Ability to motivate a large and complex sales organization
