Market Sales Manager | Northern California


Natural / Organic Products Food Broker seeks Market Sales Manager.

REPORTS TO: Sales Director

Territory: San Francisco Bay Area, East Bay

The Market Sales Manager calls on independent and/or large and small chain natural grocery, specialty, gourmet food and supplements accounts. You will be selling natural and organic food, supplements and body care products to a wide variety of retail chains both Corporate and Independent.



·         Call on retail accounts as assigned, both existing and new.

·         Prospect, identify and develop business with new accounts.

·         Present new product introductions.

·         Create and present promotional opportunities through the retailers’ advertising vehicles on/or off shelf.

·         Process and follow up on orders as necessary.

·         General retail detail; stocking shelves/cold boxes where possible, tweaking shelf sets and displays or building displays. Check for accurate shelf tags, rotate stock, and apply POS and coupons where allowed, police pricing and promo execution.

·         Ability to comprehend and use sales data in presentations (SPINS, etc.).

·         Participate in trade shows/table top shows as directed by management.

·         Maintain store sets/testers/merchandising units/racks/literature.

·         Sell overstocks/distressed merchandise/spiff programs and manufacturer initiatives.

·         Travel with manufacturers as needed.

·         Overnight Travel as necessary.

·         Conduct retail audits as necessary.

·         Maintain updated Sales Materials.

·         Communicate with Field Sales Manager /Director regarding sales issues and objectives.

·         Report / Record daily calls and activity in Business Tracking System.

·         Respond in timely manner to all correspondence.

·         Be prepared to receive, store and manage product samples.

·         Other activities as directed by manager.

·         This is a full-time position.

·         Minimum 3 years natural food field sales experience

·         Experience in the Natural Products Industry is imperative

·         Self-starter with strong sales and merchandising skills

·         A high level of motivation with a strong work ethic

·         Flexibility to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment

·         Ability to work independently while being a strong team player

·         Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills

·         Excellent communication skills through written word, verbal discussion and active listening

·         Flexibility to accept a variety of fluctuating tasks

·         Ability to manage time and deadlines

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint and Familiarity with databases

·         Excellent decision-making ability

·         Discretion when working with confidential information

·         Candidates must have dependable transportation, cell phone, internet access, and computer with system capacity that can handle customer portals and company database.

·         Must request, receive, manage and store own product samples

·         Ability to lift 40lbs



Outside sales position which will require visits to retail stores as well as a working from a home office.

Dependable transportation and good driving record is a must as you will be driving to each account.
