The Position: Procurement Officer
Mountain Rose Herbs- Eugene, Oregon- Procurement Officer

General Description:   This is a full time position within the procurement department. This position works directly with domestic and international botanical suppliers. Processes include; inventory management, constant communication with vendors as well as procurement team and data entry. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of organic agriculture and strong organizational skills.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required:      

·         Must have the ability to perform quick and accurate work with a strong attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple timelines and prioritize effectively.

·         Must possess a working knowledge of Mountain Rose Herbs bulk material and products.

·         Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (to include email communication).

·         Must have the ability to be self directed, follow instructions and work well with others in a team orientated environment.

·         Position requires the ability to "shift gears" at a moment's notice and have a professional attitude.

·         Willingness to learn and perform new procedures, work with new equipment, and technologies

·         Dependability: is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback for improved performance.

·         Possess strong computer skills, accurate data entry ability and the ability to quickly become proficient with MRH specific programs. Knowledge of excel necessary.

·         The best individual will possess all the qualities needed to be the face and spokesperson for MRH within the organic farming community.

Essential Job Functions:

1.       Ability to work closely and communicate clearly with Director of Operations, Procurement Manager and Buyers, as well as with multiple departments to include QC, Accounting, Warehouse, Inventory, Products and Marketing

2.       Using yearly sales data to create projections for each product for the coming year.

3.       Communicating with established vendors to build lasting, positive business relations. Providing feedback to vendors regarding quality to continue improvement of material. Develop working knowledge of cultivation, harvest, and processing of botanicals.

4.       Monitor products assigned by management prioritizing in stock ratio. Working creatively, and diligently to ensure maximum in stock for assigned products. Communicate difficulties with products to Management/Team to allow for other strategies to be considered.

5.       Herb sample organization within the department. Maintaining an internal inventory of pre-shipment samples and keeping them organized.

6.       Reviewing pricing requesting approval from Products Manager when needed. Negotiation of pricing when needed.

7.       Formulating purchase orders to be sent to Procurement Manager for final approval.

8.       Ability to travel for vendor site visits, providing assessments of facilities/crops/growing & harvesting methods while also gathering and drafting content for marketing opportunities (blogs/photographs). Working with marketing accordingly

9.       Communicating with MRH Accounting Dept and direct supervisor to arrange payments.

10.   Gathering details for shipping arrangements and providing them to shipping coordinators.

11.   Locating new potential vendors. Continuous effort to diversify supply, improve quality/pricing and source organic material.

12.   Knowledge of or ability to learn regulatory requirements for FDA, MRH, USDA and Organic Standards. Other duties relating to this as assigned.

13.   Other Duties may be as assigned as needed.
