The Position: Key Account Manager



Established in 1995, Hero Nutritionals is the leader in creating innovative and unique delivery systems in the natural products industry. Yummi Bears® became the #1 selling children’s vitamin in the industry. Due to the overwhelming success of the Yummi Bears® line for children, Hero has since launched Slice of Life®, a full line of all natural gummy vitamins for adults.


We are seeking a highly motivated Key Account Manager that is a go getter, and can drive sales and direct efforts with our key customers.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Contribute to the development of Company’s sales strategies to succeed
  • Responsible for management of key accounts and the support of these buyers
  • Key participant in sales meetings and trade shows
  • Research competitive sales strategies and recommend strategic plans to overcome any marketplace threats in assigned geographic area(s)
  • Develop and track all sales initiatives for existing and new product lines in sales channels under Sales Manager’s responsibility, including Health, Food/Drug/Mass, or both
  • Manage distributors and agents, including but not limited to individuals and consortiums
  • Provide input to Marketing for packaging, as requested, for all products, including re-designs, based on knowledge of customers
  • Provide CEO, Marketing Manager and other departments with sales reports as needed
  • Recommend new sales and marketing opportunities for Company’s products, including but not limited to private label and international accounts
  • In conjunction with Marketing, meet all timelines on product launches and ongoing sales initiatives
  • Maintain Company’s sales policies and objectives
  • Develop and manage to specific expense budgets for each initiative within region assigned

Requisite Skills and Knowledge:

  • Will require business travel via own automobile or commercial carrier
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet for research, and other software programs as needed to carry out responsibilities of position
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, to establish effective relationships with vendors, suppliers and outsourced functions
  • Proven ability to work under pressure of long and short deadlines, changes in direction, with ability to remain calm and even tempered, act as facilitator to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and make professional presentations to internal and external audiences


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years experience in nutritional, dietary supplement, pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Strong relationships with buyers in the health food channel, such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Vitamin Shoppe
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • High energy, proven initiative to recommend and implement improvements
  • Strong familiarity with current industry-specific competitive strategies and best practices
