Job Description

BRAND/SALES MANAGER OVERVIEW

A Brand/Sales Manager’s function is to facilitate communication between manufacturers and Presence Marketing/Dynamic Presence, and manufacturers and the sales team. This is a multifaceted position requiring excellent communication and organizational skills.

POSITION DETAIL

  • Provide leadership to the day to day operations of the sales team while also maintaining a focus on the strategic goals of our manufacturer partners and the company’s strategic goals.
  • Recruit, hire and train and conduct performance evaluations for the natural team to maximize their potential capabilities to produce strong sales results within the Natural Sales Division.
  • Develop sales/promotional plans taking into account competitive environment, brand position in the marketplace.
  • Develop top line sales growth of brands through effective actionable sales/marketing strategies.
  • Work closely with Presence Management to educate and train sales team on brand marketing strategy and take steps necessary to make them successful.
  • Oversee Sales Team and evaluate their performance regularly using applicable data.
  • Create annual promotional calendars and analyze the return on investment for proposed spending through the various channels.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with your brands to maximize ROI on marketing and advertising programs.
  • Work with manufacturers to maximize their resources to develop and implement strategic sales promotional plans for success in designated distributors and retailers.
  • Oversee the execution of the sales/marketing plan and adjust as necessary to maximize results.
  • Collect, consolidate and disseminate all manufacturer information including but not limited to promotions, new items, hip pocket deals, case stacks, holiday items, truckloads, overstocks, displays, demo, audits and spiff programs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships at manufacturer, distributor and retail level.
  • Lead effort which results in meeting or exceeding company’s sales and distribution building objectives.
  • Quickly understand the policies and procedures in which Presence Marketing operates.
  • Quickly understand the landscape of the natural/mass business in the territory.
  • Work closely with Distributor Account Executives on manufacturer’s distributor objectives.
  • Participate in the coordination of regional sales meetings.
  • Work with Distributor Account Executive and/or Administrative Assistant to continue to develop effective sales collateral, promotional plans and point of sale materials through our database system.
  • Develop and/or maintain division SharePoint page.
  • Attend all of the necessary regional and national trade shows and managers’ meetings that may surround them.
  • Work with manufacturers to develop, implement and track strategic brand plans for assigned regions.
  • Make presentations for new brands as directed by upper management.
  • Represent the company at all times in an ethical, responsible and professional manner.
  • Travel and other duties as necessary.

:

  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitors, competitive product lines, current retail environment and available promotional and marketing programs.
  • Work with key business partner contacts to create strong relationships. This includes developing relationships with our manufacturers, corporate headquarter category managers, store buyers and key department contacts, as well as distributor representatives and merchandisers as appropriate.
  • Work with manufacturers and utilize their promotional calendars to develop, submit, implement, and track strategic sales promotional plans for assigned accounts on new and current products.
  • Complete vendor audits when requested. Present new products and complete paperwork; formulate and review sales strategies necessary to obtain product placement; monitor assigned retail accounts to determine and suggest new product placement opportunities.
  • Create/maintain customized local market training modules for assigned territory; utilize modules to conduct regional trainings as appropriate.
  • Work with manufacturers, distributors and retail accounts to develop goals and objectives for pre-identified departments.
  • Develop and implement or maintain monthly reporting tools to be utilized with our manufacturers and internal managers that summarize accomplishments, targets and opportunities.
  • Assist category managers and buyers during category reviews to maximize sales through product selection by providing new, current and discontinued item recommendations for schematic and reset planning.
  • Utilize reporting tools to analyze movement, lift, placement, and voids; work with sales team to manage, monitor and maximize implementation of placement, plus-outs and promotions.
  • Coordinate and work with administrative staff, other division managers and Distributor Account Executives on new and existing product information, promotions, etc., as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage department attendance at trade shows, sales meetings, manufacturer interviews and business reviews.
  • Complete side projects as requested by our retail accounts, manufacturers and supervisors; these projects may involve sales forecasting, trade spend budgeting, business planning and gross profit analysis.
  • Attend regional sales and national meetings as well as participate in trade shows and trade/association conventions; attend occasional social events with manufacturers/key accounts, and industry partners outside of normal business hours.
  • Coordinate and lead market tours of local stores and participate in meetings with manufacturers, retail accounts, and distributor representatives as necessary.

  • Current relationships with chains and distributors helpful
  • Extensive outside sales experience preferred 5+ years
  • Proof of sales performance, accomplishments and awards from previous work experience helpful
  • Good closing and great customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license – good driving record
  • Ability to work intermittent nights and weekends
  • Previous experience in the Natural Food/Nutrition Industry preferred
  • College Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or extensive prior experience
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of brands and a dedicated sales team
  • Ability to focus on both the big picture and the details
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the natural industry
  • Corporate call experience as well as fluency with consumption data, both WFs portal and SPINS
  • Flexible and entrepreneurial, able to thrive in a continuously changing environment 2-5 years food sales management experience
  • At least two years’ experience managing a sales force/team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to coach, listen and develop Innovative, strategic problem solver, results-focused
  • Travel – 1 week per month
