The Position: Account Executive-Conventional Groc-Minneapolis

OVERVIEW

The Account Executive is the link between client, conventional and natural customers and Presence Marketing/Dynamic Presence.  This is a dynamic home office based position requiring the ability to focus on ongoing goals and objectives and management of the details associated with day to day retail sales management and business development.  The Account Executive is responsible for both maintaining existing business as well as generating new business opportunities for our client’s brands within their defined regional territory. 

POSITION DETAIL

*      Maintain current awareness of competitors, competitive product lines, current retail environment and available promotional and marketing programs.

*      Work with key business partner contacts to create strong relationships.  This includes developing relationships with our principals, corporate headquarter category managers, buyers, key department contacts, distributor representatives and merchandisers as appropriate.

*      Work with manufacturers and utilize manufacturer’s promotion calendars to develop implement and track strategic sales promotional plans for assigned key accounts on new and current products.  Complete vendor audits when requested.

*      Present new products; formulate and review sales strategies necessary to obtain product placement; monitor accounts to determine and suggest new product placement opportunities.

*      Assist account buyers during category reviews to maximize sales through product selection by providing information for new and discontinued item recommendations during reset planning.

*      Coordinate and work with office staff, division managers and marketing managers on new and existing product information, promotions, etc., as needed.

*      Complete side projects as requested by chains, manufacturers and supervisors.  These projects may involve sales forecasting, trade spend budgeting, business planning and gross profit analysis.

*      Attend regional and national sales meetings as well as participate in trade shows and trade/ association conventions. 

*      Coordinate vendor tours of local stores and participate in meetings with manufacturers, chain buyers and possibly distributor representatives.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

*      Dependable, extroverted, diplomatic person, able to problem solve successfully with a wide variety of people and issues

*      Must be able to work independently

*      Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills

*      Ability to multi-task and constantly prioritize daily tasks and overall workload

*      Ability to manage time and deadlines

*      Excellent written, verbal and listening skills

*      Strong negotiation skills

*      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; PowerPoint knowledge helpful

*      Good presentation abilities

*      Exceptional work ethic

*      Excellent decision making ability

*      Experience in the Organic Food Industry preferred; retail experience helpful

*      Merchandising skills a plus

*      Knowledge of product brands and/or grocery chains

*      Current relationships with chains and distributors helpful

*      Extensive outside sales experience preferred

*      Proof of sales performance, accomplishments and awards from work experience

*      Good closing and customer service skills

*      Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, squat, stand and reach

*      Valid driver’s license – good driving record

*      Ability to work intermittent nights and weekends

*      Previous experience in the Organic Food and/or Nutrition Industry helpful

*      5+ years of sales experience

*      BS/BA degree a plus
