The Position: Senior Category Manager

 

 

Position Overview:

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for utilizing marketing, category performance, competitor and customer data to help execute a strategic approach to product selection that differentiates PCC from our competitors.  They direct and coach the Category Management Team as they work collaboratively with store operations and office support departments to ensure successful execution of their programs in accordance with PCC’s financial, social and environmental goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

·       Oversees market specific assessments of competitors, vendors and customers to support merchandising strategy

·       Implements projects including integrating category assessment into actionable plans

·       Defines long-term strategic objectives based on detailed knowledge of category trends, competitor data, customer feedback and other relevant data

·       Oversees efforts within the Merchandising Department, Store Management and with external vendor partners to implement category management practices

·       Summarizes and presents data to bring insight that is meaningful and actionable

·       Oversees development of Center Store merchandising plan and layout for existing and new store projects

·       Other projects as assigned by the Center Store Director

·       Handles confidential information using discretion and judgement

Qualifications & Skills

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Category Manager or related; preference for grocery or retail

·       Management experience with proven strong leadership ability

·       Practical knowledge and experience with Gold Symphony’s Apollo software

·       Extensive knowledge of Center Store departments with demonstrated strong merchandising skills, knowledge of PCC preferred

·       Proven written, verbal and analytical skills with a strong understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods

·       Must have excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

·       Bachelor’s degree in business analysis, or other related field preferred

·       Must be able to travel to all PCC locations and available to work evenings and weekends when needed
