The Position: Production Planner

General Description:

Our Production Planner position is responsible for leading the overall production planning process to support demand planning and inventory management for our Santa Barbara food company.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and oversee detailed production scheduling taking into account capacities, forecasted demand, lead times, material availability, and customer requirements.
  • Generate job work orders in support of the production schedule and manufacturing cycle times.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels; manage all inventories including raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
  • Utilizes historical sales trends to forecast accurate inventory targets and allocation plans.
  • Purchase raw materials for production in line with demand for finish goods sales and safety stock targets.
  • Issue purchase orders to co-packers within the appropriate lead time.
  • Provide a supply forecast to co-packers and manage on-time delivery
  • Proactively manage co-packer activity and attainment to ensure firm's interests are met.
  • Manage all inventory movement to and from warehouses.
  • Conduct review meeting with ingredient and packaging buyers to ensure continuous, on-time supply.
  • Review forecast with the Sales and forecasting department to ensure all the nuances are understood when making production decisions.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business or Supply Chain from a 4-year accredited university (Master’s Degree Preferred).
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in forecasting, demand/inventory planning and/or supply chain management in the food and beverage industry.
  • Solid Understanding of MRP, Bills of Materials (BOM’s) and production scheduling.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
