| The Position: Nursery (Seed) Manager Lundberg Family Farms is seeking an experienced individual to perform as a (Seed) Nursery Manager on a full-time basis. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for seed purity, breeding of improved varieties of rice and field research that aids in the fulfillment of our strategic plan and is expected to be one of the go-to rice expert for Lundberg Family Farms as a resource for growing methods, variety uses, hedonics, history, genealogy, and innovation. The successful candidate will have at least five years’ experience, with increasing responsibilities, in field experience which must include rice and/or other self-pollinated crops or small grains. Applicant must possess excellent communication and problem solving skills, be self-motivated, work well in a team atmosphere, and be computer proficient.
The Nursery Manager will be required to work indoors in an office environment as well as outdoors in a rice production environment. Breeding of rice will be both inside and outside. Conditions range from a heated/air-conditioned office, hot and dry rice fields, humid flooded rice fields and hot, humid nursery greenhouses. The work requires both a clean, organized workspace as well as working efficiently in muddy conditions.
