Job Description  
The Position: Sales and Key Account Manager

Our Portland based Food/Environmental laboratory is currently looking to fill a full-time position for a Sales & Key Account Manager. The Sales & Key Account Manager is responsible for selling analytical testing services to the Food industry while also managing existing key accounts. This position will also develop new business through previously identified targets, and through new strategic avenues. Core services include pesticide & residue analysis, nutritional testing, microbiology and water testing.


·       Define new business avenues

·       Develop new clients through original contacts, responding to direct inquires, internet research and industry sales leads.

·       Expand service offerings with current or previous clients

·       Create short and long-term client plans showing potential volume

·       Serve as primary contact for key accounts

·       Maintain sales data system showing sales volume

·       Stay current with new applications and testing technologies

·       Represent the laboratory at customer meetings, industry tradeshows and working groups and seminars.


Education and Experience:

·       3-5 years of experience in a previous sales role.

·       Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or similar

·       Ideal candidate has previous food, R&D, laboratory, or QA experience


Skills & Experience:

·       Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

·       Proficient computer skills (LIMS, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

·       Self-motivated and energetic

·       Must be able to work cross functionally

·       Must be organized and analytical

·       Ability to make decisions independently

·       Must be capable of managing business critical functions in an organized manner

·       Ability to travel up to 60% percent of the time to customers and sites

·       Ability to capture market and financial trends and translate them into input for Brand Management as well as strategies to capture opportunity and respond to challenges proactively.
